1/28/2024 0 Comments Topnotch vt![]() The carpet had holes on it, the windows were filthy, the bathroom was tiny. The room was so outdated and disgusting, the air conditioner filters hadn't been cleaned in what looked like years. This was the same for the pool/jacuzzi area. At booking they never mentioned anything about the spa being booked out for 3-5 months so when we arrived we go to spa to book appointments only to realize it's full with mostly people who aren't even staying and bought a day/weekend pass. We first stayed at "top notch" in August for our first vacation in years as we are always so busy. So I am not one to write reviews but I feel I need to warn people about this place. Spa and in-town restaurant reservations should definitely be planned in advance as these fill up quickly (even during a slower time of the year). Easy access to the recreational trail across the street for biking/hiking/paved walking was also a huge plus as were the s’mores by the outdoor fire pits. We loved seeing the fire bowls lit and sitting by the fireplace each night as well as the over bed reading lights. Hotel was clean/meticulously maintained, bright, and welcoming and it is clear that staff are working very hard to get things back up and running while continuing to ensure their guest’s safety in a COVID world. Special shout out to Jeff at the door who made our coming/going each day he was there extra special with his smile and easy going nature and to the front desk staff who graciously accommodated our multitude of questions whenever we had them. Visited Top Notch and Stowe/Burlington for the first time in early November for our 15th wedding anniversary and our whole family really enjoyed ourselves. I felt that adequate precautions were taken for cleanliness in these COVID times.… We had plenty of towels and hanging space in the bathroom for our stay. We used the "Do Not Disturb" sign to ensure that housekeeping would not come into our room. You could also hear some road noise from the room. It was also very noisy when the unit turned on. (The problem was fixed the next day.) We requested floor fans the first night to cool off the room, which were not available. We did have a problem with the HVAC unit, where it would not work with the control on the wall to keep the room cool. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided in pump bottles mounted to the tub/shower wall. Our room (337) was spacious and comfortable. If you bring your (allowed) pet, you can stay on the first floor of the main building. You have to walk a few minutes from the main building to get to the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, as well as the building with the indoor swimming pool, sauna, and steam room. The property is above average the room is average. My wife and I stayed here while visiting with our daughter and her fiancé.
